Atoll of Bikini
The atoll of Bikini in the Pacific Ocean was used as a nuclear range by the United States, with sixty-seven nuclear tests conducted between 1946 and 1958. The radioactivity on the island is still dangerous to human health today, preventing its permanent settlement. The original inhabitants of the atoll suffered serious health damage and continue to fight for compensation from the damage caused by the nuclear tests.

Island of Queimada Grande
The island of Queimada Grande, Brazil, is the only habitat of the venomous snake Bothrops insularis, with a density of between 2,000 and 4,000 specimens on only 430,000 square meters. The access to the island is restricted to research purposes only because of the risk posed by venomous snakes. The island has been nicknamed "snake island" because of its high danger.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
Hawaii is home to Volcanoes National Park, one of the few places in the world where you can get close to active volcanoes such as Mt. Kilauea and Mauna Loa. However, the area has been associated with many casualties and deaths due to lava haze, flying rocks and boiling ocean water. Boat tours through red-hot lava rivers obviously present a high risk to tourists, requiring extreme caution and care.
Mount Sinabung
Mount Sinabung is an active strato-volcano located on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. Its last eruption in 2019 produced an ash cloud about 2 km high, making it a potentially dangerous place for visitors. The volcano is part of the Pacific 'fire belt' and requires caution in case of warnings of seismic activity.

Medieval castles, mausoleums, national parks, churches and more: often Disney animators have drawn inspiration from real places to make the locations in which animated films are set.

Other times, however, animators were inspired by real locations to recreate new, albeit extremely similar locations to reality: and each of these locations can, of course, be visited. Here are some of the most famous examples.
