One of the mandatory stops when going to Rome is the Colosseum, one of the iconic monuments of the Italian capital.
Next to the Colosseum you can also see the arch of Costantine, a triumphal arch.
Walking down Via dei Fori Imperiali from the Colosseum, one arrives at the Imperial Fora, a large archaeological area in the heart of Rome. One of the most important stops on a tour of the capital.
Past the Imperial Fora and the Vittoriano complex, you can visit the Capitol Hill, with its splendid square. Also known as Monte Capitolino, it is the smallest hill on which Rome was founded.
In the Capitol there is a copy of the equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius. The original is kept inside the Palazzo dei Conservatori.
Not far from the Capitol you can visit the Marcello theater, theater of ancient Rome still partially preserved.
One of Rome's historic squares is Piazza del Popolo. Easily reached by subway, it is among the most famous and visited squares in the capital.
In Piazza della Minerva, not far from the Pantheon, you can find a gem: the obelisk of Minerva, one of the nine Egyptian obelisks in the capital. The obelisk stands on the rump of a marble elephant, sculpted by Ercole Ferrata to a design by Bernini.
An absolute must-see place in Rome is the legendary and beautiful Piazza di Spagna, with the staircase of Trinità dei Monti.
Piazza di Spagna is also home to one of Rome's iconic fountains, Barcaccia. Tourists from all over the world come to admire and photograph it.
Impossible not to visit the fountain of Trevi, Rome's representative and probably most famous fountain in the world. An unmissable stop on any trip to Rome.
