There are many aspects that drive a tourist to choose one destination over another, or that hotel structure over another. The variables, as we know, are innumerable, ranging from the time of year, to what one is looking for, to what one finds. An increasingly important component, however, in consumer choice is the facilities' hospitality, or hospitality.

With the 'Traveller review awards', every year, 'Booking' rewards the best establishments, in 220 different countries around the world, for their commitment to first-class, professional service and hospitality, continuously throughout the year.

Of the five resorts we present, the first in this special ranking, only one is located outside Europe, demonstrating the love that tourists from all over the world continue to have for the Old Continent.

Polignano a mare (Italy)
Speaking for all those who are not Italian, this beautiful jewel of Apulia was the birthplace of singer Domenico Modugno, the artist who sang the famous song 'Volare, nel blu dipinto di blu'. It was while looking at the view from the promontory that Modugno composed his world-famous hit.

Dresden (Germany)
In fourth place is the German city of Dresden, situated on the river Elbe, whose valley was included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. In its very long history, this place has been razed to the ground several times, the last time being during the Allied bombing raids of World War II. A very famous book was written about these bombings, called 'Slaughterhouse-Five; or, The Children's Crusade: A Duty-Dance With Death', written by Kurt Vonnegut in 1969.

Klaipeda (Lithuania)
In fifth place in this Booking ranking is Klaipeda, Lithuania. This place is very particular in its architecture: most of the buildings are in the Anglo-Saxon, German, English or Danish style, while the Soviet style dominates behind the centre and in the first suburbs. The outer circle, on the other hand, is dominated by ultra-modern detached houses, a symbol of the city's development in the decade 1998-2008.
