Ranking of the ten most popular tourist attractions in Europe

Italy, France, Spain, Greece....so many places in Europe boast attractions that attract tourists from all over the world. But have you ever wondered which is the most popular of them all? After all, the Old Continent is full of wonders and history that is hard to find in other places.

But how to rank the most popular ones? That was done by "Musement", which analyzed more than 4200 places around Europe, taking into account the number of reviews each of being had on google.

Three Latin nations dominate over all, and this is nothing new, but now we will find out the actual ranking of the best tourist attractions in Europe.

Fountain of Trevi - (Rome, Italy)
Topping the list of Europe's best tourist attractions is the Fountain of Trevi, which according to analysis conducted by "Musement" has received more than 345,000 reviews. A symbol of the Italian Baroque, desired by Pope Clement XII and designed by architect Nicola Salvi, and later by Giuseppe Pannini, it welcomes millions of visitors from all over the world every year.

Colosseum - (Rome, Italy)
Let's stay in Italy, because in second place in this special ranking is the Colosseum, the Roman arena once used for bloody fights between gladiators, circus shows and much more. Located in the center of Rome, this theater built between 72 and 80 AD by order of the emperor Flavio Vespasiano, boasts more than 330,000 reviews.

Eiffel Tower - (Paris, France)
328,000 reviews for one of the symbols of France and all of Europe, namely the Eiffel Tower, commissioned for the 1889 Universal Exhibition. This tower represents one of the architectural apotheosis of iron, once despised by the French and especially the Parisians, who then made it, over time, a national symbol.

The Louvre Museum - (Paris, France)
Off the podium is the Louvre, which takes fourth place thanks to 266,000 reviews. Iconic in its pyramid-like exterior, it houses among its rooms the greatest masterpieces of world art, such as the Gioconda by Leonardo, the Virgin of the Rocks and the Venus de Milo. Together with the Uffizi in Florence, it is undoubtedly the most visited museum in Europe.

Disneyland Paris - (Paris, France)
Paris currently dominates this ranking, as in fifth place we find the enchanted world of Disneyland Paris, with an impressive 259,000 reviews. For more than 30 years now, this dream capital has enchanted adults but mainly children, captivated by the chance to meet their favorite animal cartoons in the "flesh."

Sagrada Familia - (Barcelona, Spain)
The first attraction not found in Rome or Paris is the Sagrada Familia, the unfinished masterpiece of Antoni Gaudi now a symbol of Barcelona, the most important Catalan city. With more than 200,000 reviews it is one of the most visited attractions in Europe due to its unique style. Work on its completion is also going on these years, and soon we may finally see it complete.

Arc de Triomphe - (Paris, France)
197,000 reviews for the Arc de Triomphe, once again in Paris. A monument commissioned by Napoleone Bonaparte, it took 30 years to finally be completed. An imposing construction 50 meters high by 45 meters wide (and 22 meters deep), it celebrates the French victory in Austerlitz. It stands at the end of the Avenue des Champs-Elysées, in the center of the Charles de Gaulle square.

We take the plane and return once again to Rome to visit Pantheon, ranked eighth on this special list. 197,000 reviews for what was once a temple where all the gods were worshipped (Pan means everything), was transformed into a Christian church in the 7th century, with the title of minor basilica.

Retiro Park - (Madrid, Spain)
The only presence of Madrid in this ranking, Retiro park boasts an impressive 164,000 reviews. 125 acres of greenery in the center of Madrid, is home to wonderful gardens and stunning fountains, perfect to visit in the summer months to find some shade from the Castilian heat.

Parc Guell - (Barcelona, Spain)
The last attraction in the ranking, which closes the top 10, is Parc Guell, again a work of that genius of Antoni Gaudi who, in Barcelona, also gave Casa Batllò, another great European attraction. Parc Guell is a wonderful and very special park, with harmonious forms that blend perfectly with nature. Moreover, from the top of the park, there is a wonderful view of the city.
