"Njardarheimr" literally means "the house dedicated to the Norse god Njord". The whole project has been named "Valley of the Vikings," in honor of the ancient people who inhabited Scandinavia. The village as a whole consists of more than 1,500 square meters of various buildings, all typical of the period. More than 500 cubic meters of lumber were required for its construction. The carvings are all made based on relics from the Viking era, but each built in a totally unique style. The houses were built with experience from previous Viking reconstructions using materials that are available in the area.
