Cali, in southwestern Colombia, is a true paradise for bird lovers.
The Camacho Márquez family decided to open the "Forest of Mist" farm here, within which, in less than 4500 square meters, 460 different species of birds live. That is the amount of birds currently living in Austria, Belgium and Switzerland. However, the Comacho Márquez are not the only family to have bet on birdwatching because there are currently at least 12 local families who have done so.
Thanks to these activities, thousands of tourists are attracted to the area while at the same time curbing deforestation caused by cultivation.

Pictured is a beautiful bird of the Chalcothraupis Ruficervix species. The one tested by Cali is certainly a virtuous model that could be repeated elsewhere.
Pictured is a bird of the Nictibio Urutaú species. The "project" of farms that have focused on birdwatching is protecting the local mountains from deforestation, thus allowing natural habitats to remain intact.
Pictured is a bird of the species Melanerpes rubricapillus. Deforestation and destruction of natural habitats is among the main causes of animal species extinction.
